Taziki’s Mediterranean Café will be joining the festival again this year. Taziki’s specializes in Greek and Mediterranean cuisine and has locations all around Alabama and the U.S. The Tuscaloosa location is in Midtown Shopping Center at 1800 McFarland Blvd. We asked Taziki’s a few questions:
What was your favorite part of last year’s festival?
The opportunity to participate in a community event and let Tuscaloosa residents know about some of the delicious entrees Taziki’s Mediterranean Cafe has to offer.
What drew Taziki’s to participating in the festival this year?
Tuscaloosa is home to many unique restaurants that offer a wide variety of dining options. We believe that a food and wine festival encourages members of the community to eat locally and benefits everyone involved. We were thrilled to be invited back for the second annual event and look forward to working with other local businesses.
What would you like guests of the festival to know about your restaurant?
We are a restaurant that strives to not only provide great-tasting Mediterranean food, but also be known as a supporter of local charities. We have sponsored several events that help members of the community and will continue to do so, endeavoring to make a positive impact on Tuscaloosa.
Our menu features freshly grilled meats, original sauces and healthy side dishes. Taziki’s is open for lunch and dinner. We offer take-out and cater for a variety of events both large and small.
What sets Taziki’s apart from other West Alabama restaurants?
The inspiration to start our restaurant came from a 1997 trip to Greece, where founders Keith and Amy Richards traveled on vacation. A combination of food and the Mediterranean atmosphere gave them the idea to start a Greek-style restaurant in a fried-chicken-and-sweet-tea-obsessed Alabama. The restaurant works to provide customers with a fresh Mediterranean experience from right here in Tuscaloosa!
Taziki’s just launched an updated menu with new fresh selections and vegetarian items.
Some of the delicious entrées include a Caesar Salad, Mediterranean Turkey Melt and Grilled Veggie Plate. Customer favorites that have been altered with new ingredients include the Grilled Veggie Gyro and Tomato Basil Sandwich.
The restaurant also has a new chicken salad recipe and has added a whole baked chicken as “Dinner for 4” option.
For those looking for gluten-free options, a new Hummus recipe has also been introduced, in addition to the other gluten-free items already on the menu.
We’re focusing on a new app that makes it easy to place an order from your phone. We are trying to make it more convenient for customers to enjoy our food.
What can we look forward to sampling from Taziki’s at the festival?
We will be bringing samples of our Taziki’s Signature Pasta, which is a customer favorite! Taziki’s Signature Pasta consists of grilled chicken and penne pasta tossed in our homemade balsamic vinaigrette on a bed on mixed lettuces topped with feta, tomatoes and fresh basil.
